Coastal Explorations with the Marion Natural History Museum

MARION — This summer, the Marion Natural History Museum is hosting two week-long programs for elementary schoolers to explore nature in town.

From 9 a.m. to noon on July 6-10 and August 3-7, children will explore, experiment, craft and journal outdoors. 

The group will visit inter-tidal shorelines, salt marshes, estuaries as well as freshwater riverbanks, forest, swamps, ponds and bogs. There will also be daily trips to see birds, amphibians, fish and invertebrates.

Space is limited to 15 participants per session, so early registration is encouraged. The program is best suited for children entering grades 2-6.

This year a full-day option will also be available, in partnership with the Marion Recreation Department. Marion Recreation will be busing from the museum to Silvershell beach for the remainder of the day.
