MATTAPOISETT — Two Old Rochester Regional School District students were recently selected as Feinstein Foundation Golden Ticket winners.
Seventh grader Lauren Dowd and first grader Lily Bowser each earned their school a $2,000 grant and won an additional $500 for a charity of their choice.
Lauren, a student at Old Rochester Regional Junior High School chose to donate her $500 to Showstoppers Performing Arts, which she is a member of. The nonprofit organization instills confidence in performers aged 7 to 18 years old as they sing at various community events.
Lily, a Sippican Elementary School student, will donate her winnings to people in New York City who are experiencing homelessness.
The Feinstein Foundation distributes golden tickets to students at participating elementary and middle schools in Massachusetts and Rhode Island at the beginning of each school year. Five winning numbers are selected each week.
