Letter to the editor: Thanks for a successful Town Party

It was a perfect summer evening at Silvershell Beach on Saturday, July 25, 2026, for the Annual Marion Town Party. Hundreds of people enjoyed great food prepared by Brooks Wilson and the Firefighters Association. The Marion Social Club was busy at the bar making margaritas and mudslides. Families enjoyed the inflatable games, face painting, and a Bubble Show. The portable rock wall from Carabiner’s of New Bedford had a line the entire night and was enjoyed by kids of all ages. Marion’s own band, Flashback, rocked the beach for two sets, and in between, D.J. Gary played some tunes.

This year’s Party was a success, and that is due in large part to our many sponsors. On behalf of the Town Party Committee, I would like to thank our Platinum Sponsors, Burr Brothers Boats and Tabor Academy, as well as our Gold Sponsor, TruNorth Bank. The Marion Town Party is not possible without the dedicated volunteers who plan the event each year. Many thanks to Brooks Wilson, Terri Santos, Andrew Daniel, Kristen Saint Don-Campbell, Jennifer Petersen, and Lauren Roberts for the months of preparation and their hard work the night of the party. Thank you to Marion Scouts Pack 32 for making the popcorn; Select Board Members John Hoagland, Toby Burr, and Randy Parker, and State Rep. Mark Sylvia for helping out behind the food line. We genuinely appreciate the community members who volunteer their time to make the event such a success.

Last but not least, I would like to thank the Marion Department of Public Works and the Marion Facilities Department for their continued support. We are already looking forward to next year’s party, where we will be celebrating Marion’s 175th Anniversary. See you next July!
