Mattapoisett police officer stops driver going wrong way on I-195

MATTAPOISETT — A police officer intercepted a driver traveling the wrong way on the highway while on duty.

Mattapoisett officer Jacob Fluegel stopped the driver traveling east in the westbound lanes of I-195 near Mattapoisett on Friday, Sept. 4.

Fluegel heard a state police report over broadcast of someone driving the wrong way while on patrol, and drove to the highway to find them.

When he saw a car driving against traffic, he tried to stop it. The driver struck Fluegel’s cruiser, but he was able to stop them. 

Mattapoisett Police EMS transported the driver from the scene, and the investigation has been turned over to the Massachusetts State Police.
