Marion harbormaster facility is now ‘open for public access’
MARION — Marion’s highly anticipated new harbormaster facility is now open to the public following a passing elevator inspection, announced Marion Town Administrator Geoff Gorman at the Marion Select Board meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
For the harbormaster building, I’m excited to report that the elevator is operational and inspected,” said Gorman. “So, that means the building is open for public access.”
The more than $3.5 million facility encompasses all the functions of the harbormaster’s office in one convenient location, unlike the past facility that required work to be split between the harbormaster building and Town Hall.
Gorman also announced the intention to host several events in coordination with the chief of police and harbormaster to introduce the facility to the pubic.
“I’m working with the chief of police and harbormaster to schedule an open house as soon as possible, and with a ribbon cutting to follow in the spring,” said Gorman.
Since the facility is now functional, sticker sales for beach stickers, parking stickers and more are set to begin operation there on Monday, Feb. 3.
