Marion Town Administrator vies for new job in Harwich
HARWICH — Geoffrey Gorman, the town administrator for Marion, is running for the open town administrator position in Harwich.
The other candidates are James McGrail, Middleboro town manager, and Jim Kreidler, former Winchendon town manager.
Gorman has served as the Marion town administrator for three years and his contract is coming to a conclusion soon.
Gorman explained why he would be a good fit for Harwich at a Harwich Select Board candidate interview meeting on Saturday, Jan. 10.
“One of my strengths is that I am extremely hard working and professional,” Gorman said, “I really understand what an organization needs to work and move.”
Gorman previously served in the United States Navy for 27 years and has been active in the Cape Cod municipalities since he moved to the coast in 2009.
When asked about the most important part of being a town administrator, Gorman explained that communication is key.
“I’m interested in doing the hard work, but I am also interested in getting feedback from those folks that can help me at the outset,” he said.
Gorman stated that building relations with government organizations is so special and one of his favorite activities is to go around Marion on Fridays and chat with the organizations.
He is excited and honored to be considered for the position and is hoping to continue his civic duty.
“We’re making sure Harwich is the best place to live and our residents are taken care of,” he said.
The Harwich Select Board expects to make a final decision on Monday, Jan. 12.
