Kids and their families dressed up for a trunk or treat event Saturday, Oct. 24 to gather candy, decorate pumpkins and have fun with friends.
Several cars were transformed into spooky scenes, and police and fire fighters were also on the scene to hand out treats.
Bourne Knowles, of Fairhaven, said he and fellow firefighters gave out a lot of candy during the event and enjoyed a nice day by the beach. The fire department’s mascot spent the afternoon greeting kids and joining them for photos.
“Sparky always puts a smile on all the kids’ faces,” Knowles said.
Lucy and Arthur Higham, 9 and 6, and Robert Caldas, 7, said this was their first Halloween event of the season so far.
Lucy dressed as Alice from “Alice in Wonderland.”
“I picked out this costume because it’s me and my mom’s favorite movie,” she said.
Her brother Arthur chose to dress as a flying squirrel.
Robert dressed as an old man — complete with a child-sized walker and a gray mustache. He said he chose the costume because he thought it would be funny, with his parents adding he sometimes feels like an old man.
