Southcoast Insurance opens Mattapoisett branch
MATTAPOISETT — Headed by Tri-town locals Nick Daddona and Chase Wingate, Southcoast Insurance Group has opened a new branch in Mattapoisett.
Southcoast Insurance was established in 2013 with its first office opened in Dartmouth. The company now has three locations spread across Dartmouth, New Bedford and now Mattapoisett where they provide a variety of insurance coverage plans for personal and commercial matters.
“We’ve always kind of been looking to aggressively grow the business,” said company founder Nick Daddona.
Daddona partnered with Mattapoisett resident Chase Wingate to take the helm at the new location, located at 55 County Road.
Daddona explained that the expansion into the Tri-town was inspired by his and Wingate’s personal connections to the area. Daddona moved to Marion in 2020, and Wingate grew up in Mattapoisett where he attended Old Rochester Regional High School as a teenager and then returned to the town around 2008.
“It was just kind of a natural fit to come back here and work with the people I grew up with,” said Wingate.
“I’m raising my family here, putting the roots down here as well [and] building around the community that we have,” said Daddona.
Wingate and Daddona met through mutual friends and found that their values and business ideas aligned with each other.
Daddonna described Wingate as “the perfect fit” for their shared goals.
“The goal is to always build a business around good people … I want honest people, good people,” he said.
With both Wingate and Daddona raising young families, the two also shared similar perspectives on work-life balance and the importance of family.
“He’s very involved with his family. That was something that was big for me,” said Daddona.
Wingate also appreciated that he and Daddona are at similar stages in their lives and careers.
“In this industry, there tends to not be people under the age of 60 that have these companies,” Wingate explained.
He adds, “I was impressed too — looking at his company, what they were doing and how they’re growing.”
Daddona grew up in Fall River and attended Saint Anslem College in New Hampshire where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business.
After graduating from Old Rochester, Wingate attended UMass Amherst where he also earned a bachelor’s degree in business.
At the new location, the duo also works with Chrissy McKay, a Mattapoisett-based licensed insurance agent who was born and raised in Wareham.
“The stars aligned here for us to do it,” said Daddona.
Tri-town residents are invited to visit the new office for an open house on Friday, Dec. 12 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
