Mahoney’s Lane controversy continues with another rescheduled meeting

MATTAPOISETT — After a previously rescheduled meeting, the Mahoney’s Lane building project has been rescheduled again due to capacity restrictions. 

On Monday, July 27 the Mattapoisett Conservation Commission had to cancel the hearing of a new housing proposal since so many residents attended the meeting. 

The new development proposed by developer Dennis Mahoney & Sons plans to build seven new homes on Manhoney’s Lane which has raised environmental concerns among residents.  

Around 50 residents were present, overfilling the cramped space in Mattapoisett Town Hall. Chairman Michael King was required by state law to reschedule the meeting.  

“The only other option is for us to continue the meeting to a date in the future at a venue that will accommodate the necessary number of people,” King said. 

The Mahoney’s Lane hearing has been rescheduled for Monday, September 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Mattapoisett Fire Station. The meeting will also be available online via Zoom.
