Mattapoisett library accepting food donations
MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett Free Public Library is collecting donations for a local food pantry through Aug. 30.
For each non-perishable, unexpired item donated, the library will waive $1 in overdue fines, up to the total amount owed. Donations can be processed at either circulation desk.
Suggested donations include canned goods such as vegetables, fruit, soup, beans, tuna and chicken; boxed items such as cereal, pasta, rice, stuffing and macaroni and cheese; pantry staples such as peanut butter, jelly, pancake mix and syrup; baby essentials such as diapers, wipes, formula and baby food; pet food, including dog and cat food and treats; and toiletries and household items such as soap, toothpaste, shampoo and paper goods.
Donated items must be unopened and not expired. Donations apply only to overdue fines and do not cover fax, copy, print or lost and damaged item fees. Fines may be forgiven regardless of which library they originated from.
