Mattapoisett Yacht club to host circumnavigator sailor as speaker

MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett Yacht Club will host a talk by sailor Jerome Rand on Aug. 1.

Rand completed a solo, nonstop circumnavigation of the globe, spending 271 days at sea and sailing 29,805 miles aboard a 32-foot boat.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the presentation beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $20, and RSVPs are required.

The event will be held at the Mattapoisett Yacht Club's new clubhouse, 32 Ned's Point Road.
