Read, write, watch at adult and teen programs at the Mattapoisett Library
MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett Free Public Library has announced its lineup of summer adult and teen programs.
Writing group. The library's writing group will meet Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. The session will include short writing exercises, progress check-ins, readings, peer reviews and silent writing time. No registration is required.
Technology workshop. A senior technology workshop titled "Apps: On the Go" will be held Thursday, Aug. 6, at 10:30 a.m. The presentation is sponsored by the library, Old Rochester Regional High School and the North Attleboro Senior Tech Program. Free technology help will be available afterward. No registration is required.
Whale film. The library will show the film "In the Whale" on Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. The film recounts the story of a Cape Cod fisherman who survived after being swallowed by a whale. Director David Abel will take part in a question-and-answer session following the screening. Registration is optional.
Vegetable talk. C.L. Fornari, host of "The Garden Lady" on WCAI and GBH 89.7, will give a presentation titled "Success with Vegetables" on Aug. 13 at 2 p.m. The talk will cover vegetable gardening, including how to address common problems and manage fall and winter harvests.
Summer reading program. The library's Teen Summer Reading Challenge continues for students entering grades 7 through 12. Participants who read from an assigned list and complete a book review can select a prize.
Crafts. A teen craft workshop will be held Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 6 p.m. Participants will make a vintage card catalog junk journal and receive raffle tickets toward a gift basket donated by author Jennifer Mason-Black.
Read together. A Summer Reading Book Club discussion of "Sometimes the Girl" will be held Friday, Aug. 7, at 3:30 p.m. Participants will receive raffle tickets toward a gift basket.
Mason-Black, author of the young adult novel "Sometimes the Girl," will give a talk and take part in a question-and-answer session Saturday, Aug. 8, at 2 p.m. Attendees will receive raffle tickets toward a gift basket.
