Rochester seeks input on community electricity program
ROCHESTER — The town is seeking community input for its Rochester Community Electricity program through Oct. 31.
A revised plan, outlining how the town will manage the program, procure future electricity supply, communicate with customers and more is currently available for public review.
The community electric program, launched in 2023, allows Rochester to purchase electricity on behalf of residents and businesses while Eversource provides delivery, billing, infrastructure and outage response.
There are two supply options for customers. Rochester Standard costs about 13 cents per kilowatt-hour and meets Massachusetts renewable energy requirements. Rochester Plus costs about 15 cents per kilowatt-hour and is made of completely renewable energy.
The current price is fixed through December 2027, and customers can opt out of the program without penalty at any time.
