Mattapoisett to honor history of firefighters

MATTAPOISETT — On Saturday, July 4, Mattaposiett will honor the history of firefighters before modern technology came into play. 

Beginning at 2 p.m. in the tent on the corner of Church and Baptist St. there will be a gathering of some of those dedicated to the safety of Mattapoisett without access to the advanced equipment available to our Fire Department today.

A panel discussion with several retired call firefighters who served our community prior to the introduction of computerized emergency notification systems. 

An exhibition featuring antique and obsolete firefighting equipment will be available. 

Afternoon events will finish between 4 and 4:30 p.m.

Intergenerational family line dancing and trivia will take place on the wharf at 6:30 p.m.
