Mattapoisett Police investigate ‘violent’ sign at ‘No Kings’ protest
MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett Police Department is investigating a protester that held a sign with a “threatening and violent message” at the Mattaposiett “No Kings” demonstration on Saturday, Oct. 18.
The protestor was photographed at the intersection of U.S. Route 6 and North Street — holding a sign that read “WANTED: BETTER SNIPERS” with a picture of President Donald Trump depicted with a target on his head.
“The allegations quickly circulated on social media and went viral, drawing significant attention from the community,” said the Mattapoisett Police Department’s Facebook post.
Organizers of the protest did not see this individual at the initial demonstration or the rally at Shipyard Park, as well as attendees have not reported to organizers that they saw this indivdual at either gathering.
Aditionally, the organizers of this event were not informed about his prescence at the protest.
The No Kings protest gathered approximately 400 attendees who voiced their grievances regarding the actions of Trump's administration and current federal issues.
Mattapoisett Police were not available for comment at the time of publication.
