Rochester favors Trump, Pires
ROCHESTER — Unofficially, Republican Donald Trump received 2,213 votes in Rochester compared to Democrat Kamala Harris’ 1,650 votes.
In the state representative race, Republican Joe Pires received 2,358 votes from Rochester residents. Democrat Mark Sylvia received 1,492 votes.
The number of ballots cast in Rochester was 4,019, an 80.85% voter turnout.
For ballot questions, 2,610 Rochester voters voted yes and 1,132 voted no for question one, which asks if the state auditor should have the authority to audit the state legislature.
For question two, which if passed would eliminate passing MCAS exams as a high school graduation requirement, 2,476 in the town voted yes and 1,447 voted no.
For question three, which if passed would allow transportation network drivers, like Uber or Lyft drivers, to unionize, 1,482 voted yes and 2,292 voted no.
For question four, asking if certain natural psychedelics — psilocybin, psilocyn, dimethyltryptamine, mescaline and ibogaine — should be legalized, 1,471 voted yes and 2,407 voted no.
For question five, which if passed would raise the minimum wage for tipped workers to $15 and allow tips to be pooled with all employees, 713 voted yes and 3,183 voted no.
In the Senate race between incumbent Democrat Elizabeth Warren and Republican challenger John Deaton, 2,468 voted for Deaton and 1,449 voted for Warren.
In the House of Representatives race between incumbent Democrat Bill Keating and Republican challenger Dan Sullivan, 2,205 voted for Sullivan and 1,631 voted for Sullivan.
