Rochester to soon begin two Town Hall infrastructure updates

ROCHESTER — The town’s grant writer secured funds for two upgrades to Rochester’s town infrastructure.
During a Monday, Sept. 21 Select Board meeting, Town Administrator Cameron Durant said the town got funding to install a fiber optic network between several town buildings and replace the upgrading the electrical system at Town Hall.
The fiber optic loop will connect Town Hall and Annex, the police and fire stations, Plumb Library and the Council on Aging. This will allow data to be shared between the six locations on a closed loop.
Durant said work on the project will begin early next month.
The two electric vehicle charging stations outside Town Hall, along with the rest of the building’s electric system, will also be replaced thanks to a state grant Marcia Kessler, the town’s grant writer, helped secure.
Durant said these are “good updates and upgrades to Town Hall infrastructure thanks to Marcia (Kessler) and our hard work.”
